giving up your home
If you want to end your tenancy with bdht you must:
Give us at least four weeks written notice, unless the tenancy is ending due to the death of a tenant. If this is the case please call us free on 0800 0850 160.
At the end of your tenancy you must:
- Remove all furniture, belongings and rubbish
- Clean the property to a reasonable standard
- Leave the property in good repair
- Make sure your rent is up-to-date
- Tell the council and, if you receive housing benefit, the housing benefit department
- Inform the gas, electric, water and phone suppliers that you are moving out and give them your new address. You should take readings for all the meters. Please ensure that any pre-payment meters are free from debt
- Hand back the keys and any pre-payment meter cards on the day you move out. You are responsible for security of the property until the keys are returned
To discuss any of these issues in more detail please call a member of the Lettings and Voids Team free on 0800 0850 160.
