bromsgrove shared ownership
Shared ownership is sometimes called ‘New Build Homebuy’ and is a government sponsored scheme to help people get their first step on the property ladder by offering affordable housing.
Affordable Housing
Shared ownership is intended for people who cannot afford to buy a suitable home in any other way. You must be in housing need and be unable to afford to buy a property outright. Priority will normally be given to existing public sector tenants or those on local authority or housing association waiting lists. In some circumstances you may also need to have a local connection to the area.
50% Shared Ownership
Through shared ownership you buy a share of the property, normally 50% and pay rent on the remaining share. Gradually you may buy further shares and eventually own your home outright. This process is called ‘staircasing’.
