Digital Switchover Update
Digital Switchover took place during April 2011 in the Bromsgrove area, however the full shut down of the Bromsgrove transmitter is yet to be completed with transmitting services being distributed from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter.
Digital UK intends to complete this final work on 28th September 2011.
Viewers watching Freeview, BT Vision and Top Up TV will need to retune their equipment on or after this date to continue using these services. During the retune, you may notice that you gain or lose several channels.
In order to receive the television signals from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter a wideband aerial will be required. Properties without a wideband aerial will lose all their commercial TV services.
Bdht remain responsible for communal aerials where residents and or leaseholders pay a service charge for the television service and bdht have already completed a programme of aerial upgrade works to these systems where necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
I do not have a communal aerial system. How will I be affected?
All residents without a communal aerial system will need to make their own arrangements for receiving digital TV. Further details of TV aerial responsibility can be found in your tenancy agreement.
However, whilst bdht will not provide contractors to complete you digital upgrade we will be able to direct you in the right direction for assistance and advice
Will my existing television equipment continue to work?
This will depend on the age, make and model of the equipment you use, including your television. Bdht recommend that you consult your equipment manufacturer for advice.
It is uncommon to have to change your television equipment due to the digital switchover however it is likely that you may need to purchase additional equipment such as a “set top box” that will connect to your existing equipment in order to allow your existing television equipment to decode the digital signal.
