bdht - building excellent communities with passion and pride

affordable warmth

Affordable warmth means a household is able to afford to heat their home to the level required for their comfort and health. The lack of affordable warmth is known as ‘fuel poverty’. A household is in fuel poverty if they cannot keep warm and healthy in their own home at a price they can afford. The main cause of fuel poverty in the UK is a combination of poor energy efficiency in homes and low income.

bdht is currently working on a planned works programme to target all properties that have a low energy efficienty performance. To improve the performance we plan to:

  • Install energy efficient gas boilers
  • Install new thermal doors and windows
  • Insulate homes either in the roof space, the walls or both.

This will lower the energy costs you pay to heat your homes and help to lower fuel poverty for bdht customers.
