Social housing provider Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht) has announced it will be delivering brand new homes to the region, with works on two new developments already underway in Wyre Forest.

Construction has commenced to deliver 13 one-bedroom apartments for affordable rent, which will transform the site of the former Musketeer Arms pub on Avon Road. The £1.4 million project will bring the vacant site back to life, with the new properties scheduled for completion by March 2022.

bdht has also entered into contract for the affordable housing offering on the site of the former Stourminster School in Kidderminster, which closed in 2011. The wider 5.36-acre scheme, which is being delivered by Cameron Homes, will include a collection of affordable properties delivered by bdht as part of the development’s section 106 commitment.

The nine properties will include a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, available for shared ownership and social rent and will be delivered in phases from as early as January 2022.

In addition to these schemes across Kidderminster, bdht has also recently submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of land at Vale Road in Stourport. The revitalised site will include a total of 31 properties, with a collection of one and two-bedroom flats and two-bedroom houses available for affordable rent, and five ground floor apartments completed to comply fully with wheelchair adapted standards.

Following successful approval of the planning application, works are expected to start on site in September 2021, and will be delivered in conjunction with Midlands-based property developers, Tricas Construction.
