Social housing provider, Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht) is continuing to go from strength-to-strength with two new appointments to its Independent Living team.

Both Sam Harris and Sunny Cheema joined us a couple of months ago as independent living advisors; responsible for providing customers with the advice, tools and guidance required to enable them to live fulfilled and independent lives.

With over 15 years’ experience of working with families, children and young people, Sam’s previous position as family support worker at Worcestershire Children First has provided understanding of supporting vulnerable individuals and groups.

Sunny joins bdht with over 12 years’ experience in the social housing sector, having previously held positions at Midland Heart and Bromford Housing Association. In these roles, Sunny played a key part in supporting cases of homelessness and individuals with drug and alcohol dependency.

After a challenging period in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, bdht has continued to grow its team with an additional 15 recruits in the last 18 months, who are responsible for strengthening its key service offering including finance, repairs, voids, housing options, driving futures and independent living.

With over 150 staff, the housing association is a leading employer within Bromsgrove and the surrounding area. It is well known for its high levels of employee satisfaction, having ranked as a top three performer in the annual Great Places to Work® awards on three separate occasions.

“The Coronavirus pandemic has been a challenging period for individuals and businesses across the UK. During this time, it has been incredibly important for us to continue to provide a wide range of vital services to support our customers, particularly as they have spent more time in their homes.

“We are pleased that during this time we have not only been able to keep all our team working, but also to welcome so many new starters to our growing organisation. We’d like to wish all them all the very best of luck in their new roles.”

bdht is a registered provider of social housing, serving the district of Bromsgrove and surrounding areas. The not-for-profit organisation aims to improve the communities in which it is based, working closely with partners, such as the council, police and residents, to provide secure and comfortable accommodation, and safe and happy neighbourhoods. While also undertaking a wide range of activities under contract to others including homelessness, supporting people, extra care and general estate management.
