With the help of the local community, bdht has raised almost £1,500 at its annual summer fun days, which will go towards furnishing the popular Starlight Café in Charford.
Over 600 people came along to the days, held last month in Sidemoor and Charford, to enjoy the free bouncy castle, face painting, pony rides, tombola and raffle stalls amongst the many activities provided by bdht and their partners.
Ashlea Green, Driving Futures Manager at bdht, said: “We had a fantastic turn out this year and were really pleased to see so many families having so much fun together. Collectively we’ve raised an amazing amount of money and we’re delighted to be able to put this towards some new furniture for the Starlight Café, which was redecorated last year with the help of volunteers from Halfords.
“The café has become really popular, with more than 200 local people visiting each week to join in with classes, courses and social activities, as well as just coming in for the wonderful food we serve, so we’re really keen to ensure that the facilities and equipment meet their needs. Thank you to everyone who came along to the fun days and helped us to raise such valuable funds, and a special thanks to Councillor Chris Bloore who once again supported the events.”
