Our Community Fun Days brought residents of all ages together this summer, with hundreds of people attending to enjoy a range of fun-packed activities.

The first event took place at Lingfield Park in Catshill in July and was closely followed by our second fun day at St George Close in Sidemoor in August, with plenty of things for people to see and do from 12pm until 3pm.

Fun-packed activities

A whole host of games and crafts activities took place, ranging from circus skills and hook a duck to face painting, as well a visit from special guest, Bluey. Staff from across bdht and partner organisations, including NewStarts, St John’s Ambulance, Age UK, Citizens Advice, Bromsgrove Library and Healthwatch Worcestershire, were also on hand to provide passers-by with advice and support.

Kate Harvey, Support Manager at bdht, said: “Our Community Fun Days are designed to be welcoming and fun for everybody in the local community to come along and enjoy, and this year was no exception.

“Thank you to everybody who took the time to come along, we hope you had a great time. We’d also like to thank all the partner organisations, who played a big part in providing residents with a warm and welcoming space, and helping them feel supported and part of the local community.”

Unfortunately, the heatwave failed to hold out for our third event, which was set to take place in Charford at the end of August. Based on the weather forecast for strong winds and heavy rain, we made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

“We were extremely disappointed to have to cancel it, however, residents’ safety is our number one priority, and severe weather had been forecasted for the entire day,” explains Kate.

“We’re pleased the weather didn’t get in the way of us holding our first two events and hope that everybody had as much fun attending them as we did holding them.”

Positive, memorable moments

We’re extremely grateful to everyone who came along, joined in and helped us create such positive, memorable moments for another year. We’re excited to build on this year’s success and are already thinking ahead to next year’s fun days – watch this space.
