Creative pupils across Bromsgrove have helped sprinkle a little Christmas magic this festive season, as part of a community Christmas initiative with social housing provider Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht).

Pupils and children from Meadows First School, Charford First School, Hagley First School, Fairfield First School, Stoke Prior First School and Coppice Primary School have been busy creating colourful Christmas cards and artwork to help spread festive cheer to bdht’s sheltered housing residents.

The past year has been a real challenge for many due to Covid-19 and the restrictions that have been in place which has left many people feeling lonely and isolated. Over 300 residents have received the handmade cards with thoughtful messages from the children, which has helped to put many smiles on faces.

Hannah Ross, Independent Living Manager at bdht, said: “Health and wellbeing is now more important than ever with the constant threat of Covid-19, and particularly as we move into the Christmas period where people may feel lonelier and more isolated than any other time of year.

“We launched this local initiative five years ago and each year we see more and more schools getting involved and helping. We know these Christmas creations will lift our resident’s spirits and spread some joy.

“We thoroughly enjoyed working with local pupils and children on this project and would like to say a huge thank you for all their hard work and imagination. Their cards will be a lovely gift to those who may be unable to celebrate Christmas with their families as they would have liked to this year.”

If your school would like to get involved in this initiative next year, please contact the team on contactus@bdht.co.uk
