Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht) has completed the first phase of refurbishments at its Willow Court scheme, as part of its ongoing commitment towards improving facilities and services for residents and the wider community.

Willow Court is a sheltered housing scheme providing a range of one-bedroom apartments and bungalows for residents aged 60 years old and above, enabling them to live fulfilled and independent lives.

The first phase of the works included the refurbishment of the former communal room into two brand new one-bedroom flats, as well as the creation of a new day room and laundry for residents.

Once complete the wider refurbishments, which are being delivered by Bromsgrove property developer, Tricas Construction, will comprise six new build flats, as well as an additional four refurbished apartments, improved communal areas and full modernisation throughout the sheltered housing scheme.

Graeme Anderson, director of housing and communities at bdht, said: “We are delighted to have been able to safely undertake these vital refurbishment works, whilst following the latest government Covid-19 guidance. These works are demonstrative of our continued commitment towards improving our facilities and services for residents and people living across Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.

“We expect the full refurbishment to be complete by July 2021. It will be a fantastic addition to our Willow Court scheme, as it will enhance the existing facilities and can be enjoyed by residents for many years to come. It will also provide vital additional housing for others in the local area who require sheltered accommodation.”

bdht is a registered provider of social housing, serving the district of Bromsgrove and surrounding areas. The not-for-profit organisation aims to improve the communities in which it is based, working closely with partners, such as the council, police and residents, to provide secure and comfortable accommodation, and safe and happy neighbourhoods. The organisation also undertakes a wide range of activities under contract to others including homelessness, extra care, property and estate management.
